The Missoula Independent, Western Montana’s award-winning alternative newspaper just published an article based on interviews with us about The 27s: The Greatest Myth of Rock & Roll.

I first met Josh in Missoula and went on as an intern with the Independent, writing everything from news briefs, CD reviews, and band interviews, to a cover story. Thanks to Erika Fredrickson at the Indie for the great article!

Amy Winehouse fears she’ll join the “27 Club”

Apparently Amy Winehouse fears she’ll join The 27s. At least that’s what former personal assistant Alex Haines says and adds that he reckons she spent 3500 quid per week to keep up her habit. Sounds a little sensational if you ask us and she still has a few more years until she hits the 27 mark. Now that your man’s outta jail it’s time to get back into the studio. Go Winehouse!

Richey Edwards pronounced dead

Richey Edwards of the Manic Street Preachers

Nearly fourteen years after Richey James Edwards of the Manic Street Preachers disappeared without a trace his parents Graham and Sherry Edwards have been granted a court order for him to be declared presumed dead, the BBC reports.
Richey was 27 years old when he disappeared from Wales in early 1995. He was last seen in London February 1 that year, on the eve of departure for a U.S. tour.
We wish the best to Richey’s family and the Manic Street Preachers during these difficult times. Both hoped Edwards would come back alive and well, and his parents decided not to pronounce him dead on the ten years anniversary of his disappearance.

When we sat down to decide who to honot with the first 27s wearable art t-shirt we quickly decided that the honor should go to the King of Rock Bass, the late, great Gary Thain.
